September 15, 2026, is the big day: Right next to the Oerlikon train station, at Hofwiesenstrasse 350, ZIO is opening its sixth location—impressive proof of the significant demand for personalized, patient-centered services in the field of cancer treatment.
From October through December, infrastructure upgrades and improvements to patient care processes will take place at ZIO Zürichsee. On the ground floor, additional space is being created to offer a comprehensive, accessible range of therapies, and the ambiance is being refreshed. New workstations are now available for family members and companions. Patient care will not be restricted during the renovation phase. There will be changes to email communication with ZIO Zürichsee.
From October 2 to 6, 2026, the ZIO will host its first-ever “simulated fasting week.” The program is designed for patients who have completed cancer treatment and is supported by nutritional counseling. Unlike traditional fasting, simulated fasting allows for food intake, though it is limited to a strictly plant-based diet with minimal protein and carbohydrates.
As an official member of the “Selbsthilfefreundlichkeit” network, the ZIO is actively involved in the field of community-based self-help in Switzerland. In this way, it serves as a bridge between people affected by cancer and self-help groups in the canton of Zurich. According to PD Dr. med. Valeria Milani, who serves as the ZIO’s self-help coordinator, this service is still far too little known, even though it is an important complement to the professional care provided by healthcare specialists.
The ZIO is growing, and with it, the need for oncology specialists to care for our patients is also increasing. We are therefore very pleased to welcome two new specialists in medical oncology to the ZIO: Dr. Cathrin Cheridito, M.D., and Dr. Dorothea Busch, M.D.

Center for Integrative Oncology Opens Its Sixth Location in Oerlikon
With the opening of its sixth location, the Center for Integrative Oncology (ZIO) is further expanding its outpatient care services in the Zurich region. On September 15, 2026, the new center in Neumarkt, located right next to the Oerlikon train station, will begin operations. This means that, in addition to Zurich, Uster, Richterswil, Winterthur, and Glarus, the ZIO will now also have a presence in the northern part of the city of Zurich.
