Affidea Acquires ZIO AG and Strengthens Outpatient Cancer Care in Switzerland
Fribourg/Zurich, September 24, 2026 – Affidea, a leading provider of outpatient healthcare services specializing in diagnostic imaging and specialized medicine, is acquiring the Center for Integrative Oncology (ZIO AG), thereby further expanding its expertise and capacity in outpatient cancer care. The acquisition of ZIO AG, with its proven expertise in oncology and hematology, enables Affidea to further advance the integrative approach within its network. Patients benefit from more coordinated, seamless care across the various phases of their treatment journey. At the same time, continuity for patients, referring physicians, and ZIO AG’s partner clinics is a top priority: ZIO AG’s proven medical services, teams, and partnerships will remain in place.
The Center for Integrative Oncology, founded in 2015 (ZIO AG) operates six locations in German-speaking Switzerland and employs approximately 100 staff members, including more than 20 specialists in oncology and hematology, as well as other physicians in complementary medical disciplines. In 2025, ZIO AG recorded approximately 26,000 consultations.
ZIO AG combines evidence-based oncology and hematology with complementary and supportive care. The focus is on individually tailored treatment and support that addresses not only patients’ medical needs but also their psychosocial needs.
Greater Collaboration Among Medical Specialties

With ZIO AG, Affidea is expanding its medical expertise in oncology and hematology and creating additional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within its network, which includes diagnostic imaging, pathology, laboratory medicine, genetics, breast medicine, urology, gynecology, and gastroenterology.
In this way, Affidea strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration—from early detection and diagnosis, through specialized medical care and treatment, to follow-up care. Collaboration with referring physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare partners remains a central component of the care model.

In addition to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies, the range of services includes, depending on the individual’s situation, complementary medical methods such as neural therapy or mistletoe therapy, as well as psycho-oncology, oncological exercise therapy, and nutritional counseling. This ensures that ZIO AG’s proven care model is preserved while being integrated into Affidea’s broader medical network.
The existing medical teams and the integrative approach remain central to ZIO AG. The relationships that have developed with patients, referring physicians, hospitals, and other partners will also continue.
Nadine Wilhelm, CEO of ZIO AG, emphasizes:
