Cancer and the immune system Answers to important questions about the immune system
How does the human immune system react to developing tumors? What is the new immune therapy against cancer all about? And does chemotherapy really weaken the immune system? These and similar questions are asked by cancer patients and their relatives. It is not unusual for these thoughts to mix worries with hopes. Uncertainty is not far away. This makes it all the more important to obtain reliable and understandable information on the subject. Oncologist Dr. med. Albrecht Kretzschmar from the ZIO Glarus provides answers to the above questions.

barrier-free, bright, central ZIO Glarus in new premises
The Center for Integrative Oncology in Glarus recently moved into new, barrier-free and bright premises - just a few metres away from its previous location. "Here we can offer a more patient-friendly environment, with spacious rooms and direct access to the garden and terrace," says Dr. Albrecht Kretzschmar, Head of the ZIO Glarus. What remains is the small, informal team of qualified specialists and the central location, just a minute's walk from Glarus train station. "This is particularly valuable because we treat patients not only from Glarus, but also from Chur, St. Gallen and Schwyz, who can easily reach us here," says Kretzschmar.

Tips from Alma Aga Batali Well through the winter
With the winter cold often comes great dryness. Many people are affected by dry skin, especially during cancer treatment. Alma Aga Batali, Medical Practice Assistant at the ZIO Zurich, recommends using "Même" cleansing oil and body cream in such cases.

This Washing oil soothes the skin, protects it from drying out and makes it supple. "I recommend using the washing oil right from the start and for the entire duration of the therapy," says Alma Aga Batali. The oil is lightly massaged into damp skin while showering and then washed off. Dab the skin carefully when it dries. "The washing oil leaves a light, very pleasant film on the skin and really revives it," says Alma.

To prolong this effect a little longer, Alma Aga Batali recommends the matching Body cream from Même. "This cream is particularly effective when the skin becomes very dry or even atopic as a result of a treatment," says Alma. "It immediately moisturizes the skin and leaves no greasy residue. I also love the scent it leaves on my skin." Where the skin is particularly dry, it can also tolerate a thicker layer of this body cream.
