ZIO expands network
BrustCentrum Zollikerberg and Bethanien as new partners

The ZIO is now a partner of the BreastCenter Zurich at the Zollikerberg Hospital and the Bethanien Private Clinic in Zurich. The BreastCenter, which is certified by the renowned German Cancer Society, offers high-quality all-round care for all breast cancers. Thanks to this expansion of the ZIO network, patients can be cared for jointly and holistically from prevention through treatment to aftercare. For women with breast cancer in particular, care provided by a broad-based, interdisciplinary team of specialists is of great benefit. The regular tumor board contributes to quality assurance.

ZIO and Radiooncology Männedorf Hospital
Premiere with surface hyperthermia treatment

Together with the radiation oncology department at Männedorf Hospital, the ZIO now also offers surface hyperthermia treatments. In simple terms, this form of therapy uses heat to support the basic treatment against the heat-sensitive cancer cells. The treatment is suitable for patients with recurrent breast cancer or tumors on the skin or in the area of the head or neck, among others. The ZIO is proud to be able to offer this gentle treatment, which is only available at five locations in Switzerland. Patients from the canton of Zurich can contact any of the ZIO locations if they would like to find out more about surface hyperthermia.

New focus on hematology
For the quality of life of all those affected

Thanks to a new focus area at the Zurich site, the ZIO can now provide even more comprehensive support for people with haematological diseases. "With this focus, we want to provide people with haematological diseases with the latest medical treatments," says Dr. Nona Shayegi, Head Physician at the ZIO Zurich and responsible for the haematology focus. She emphasizes how important it is to always be at the cutting edge of science and to be able to advise and treat patients accordingly. Anyone living with a hematological disease can benefit from this - from anemia to leukemia. "We treat all degrees of severity comprehensively here." Individual quality of life is always at the heart of the treatment and the associated decisions.

Nutrition for cancer
What makes sense and what is good for you?

How do I eat "properly"? People with a cancer diagnosis often ask themselves this question. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. That's why it's advisable to seek advice from a specialist. Jelina Linder is a BSc SVDE nutritionist and therapist and accompanies patients at the ZIO. She says: "Nutrition is often the only way for those affected to participate in the entire treatment process themselves." Nutritional advice helps people with cancer to meet their nutritional needs and improve their quality of life. "It's important to work with the patient specifically to find out what makes sense and is good for them. From both a medical and a personal perspective," says Linder. This is why individual advice and support is so important. Read our blog to find out what Jelina Linder recommends and what nutritional advice can look like.

New to the Executive Board: Andrea Barbara Schelling
"I appreciate the warm, committed employees"

Andrea Barbara Schelling is the newest member of the ZIO management team. As center coordinator, she works at all four locations. "This allows me to feel the pulse of the individual teams," says Schelling. "I particularly appreciate the fact that I work with a lot of very motivated, professional and friendly people." The commitment of these people makes it possible to further optimize the integrative ZIO treatment concept. Always for the benefit of the patients, "who are at the center of our attention as a whole person and not just as a diagnosis". Schelling establishes and harmonizes processes and structures across all four locations and manages projects for the further development of the ZIO.
